The case of the missing fire alarm
BEFORE
AFTER
When I first met with Libby to review the spaces that needed organizing, I heard a little chirp coming from the linen closet. I didn’t know Libby had a bird. Only… it wasn’t a bird, it was a fire alarm buried somewhere in the linen closet, alone and afraid.
After the audit, where I finalize measurements, I worked on sending over a list of organizational items for Libby to purchase. Once Libby got those delivered, we set up a date to get organized.
First order of business was to find the fire alarm. After we found it, I got to work on splitting up kings and queens who have been mixed up for too long. Due to the disorganized nature of the linen closet it was hard for Libby to see what she had available. At one point she was convinced she had no queen sheets left so she bought more. I see this a lot, especially with moms who have multiple kids who are trying to keep track of so much. The linens are the first to land last priority.
We were able to throw away mismatched sheets and make room so that Libby could find exactly what she needed, no stress, no buying more sheets that she already had. Editing and organizing can also send you a lot of money!

At our second appointment we focused on the kids room. One room, two kids. Libby and I mainly focused on editing all toys, clothes, bins, and unwanted items. Each closet (above is her 4-year-old girl’s closet) was a priority. Her daughter loved wearing dresses but I had to ask the question:
Does she only like wearing dresses because that’s all she can find and see?
Low and behold, the next day at school she wanted to wear leggings and a t-shirt. All of her clothes were organized so that she could see everything and make choices based on that! We did the same with her son’s closet and drawers.
