New To Nuuly

My wardrobe is basic. Like Everlane and Madewell basic. Ever since moving to New York City about fourteen years ago I accumulated so many black basics that the only color in my closet was black with the occasional grey. The only color I felt comfortable wearing was black. When I wore colors people would say things like:

Wow you look different.

Did you cut your hair?

That’s a nice color on you.

I realized that I was disappearing, inside and out. I used to express myself through clothes. In high school I was considered a “freak” because of the clothes I chose. Remember UFO pants? Goth? Hot Topic? Well now that I’ve dated myself I’ll talk about the metamorphosis that occurred mainly through clothing subscriptions.

Rent The Runway was the first subscription I tried. For me, it was too expensive with little options. For $89.00 a month you get 4 pieces at a time, swapping once a month. The clothes were too conservative for me. Plus, I do not frequent weddings or big events where I have to dress up.

When I found Nuuly through an Instagram ad (obviously), I thought it seemed reasonable. It’s $88 for two more pieces than what Rent The Runway offers per month. The styles were eclectic. The pieces were items I would never buy for myself but would want to wear, ideally, for a month or so. My first box was filled with some jackets (I was getting tied of my Canada Goose and the ridiculous Amazon Coat that I was weirdly talked into by every stranger I passed on the Upper East Side). In addition to the jackets, there was a pleated skirt, two sweaters, and a velvet cape!

There is also a WOW factor. I got a little Pinch Provisions case equipped with static and wrinkle spray, lint brush, double sided tape, and deodorant remover. Thank you very much!

I’m very excited for my second box and here’s $10 off for you! http://fbuy.me/oDIck
